One of the more noticeable advantages of setting up a studio is that makeup and styling can be done just prior to the shoot, in this case we had two models applying their zombie makeup just off set, its also handy to have a kitchen as some of this makeup needs cooking up like a recipe to have it work properly. Our business runs in tandem with the studio, you might say we have multi-functional floor space which can be turned into a set (or sets) just by moving things around, having the facilities though is essential such as kitchen/bathroom/changing area etc as well as the all important office.
It takes a bit of time to get the zombie makeup on but well worth the wait, Mari (above left) also had to resign herself to not smile for two whole hours otherwise it would spoil the artwork… Not smiling in one of our photo-shoots is a challenge…
Makeup and styling done it was time to start creating some images as well as bringing some props into frame including chairs, clothing, fans, smoke and cardboard. As usual the two hours were up very quickly and for a trial run it didn’t turn out too bad at all – a future date is also being arranged for a half day shoot which will give us a bit more time and some ambient light to battle with.
